Remembrance Poppies

Lesson: History

Class: Willow Year: 2019 - 2020

This year, we made our poppies in a very special way. After studying the names of the Fallen who were old boys of our school, the children took photographs of the special commemoration plaques that hang proudly in our main hall.

We then printed the images in a high resolution on different shades of red paper. This produced a really pleasing 'blackened' effect to create the look of an engraving.

The next stage was to cut the images into sections, then collage a poppy template with them. We are really pleased with the result and kept a few to display on our door. You can see the main poppy display by Mrs Steele in our entrance corridor, it really does make a statement so do come along to have a look!
