Values Education

Promoting fundamental British Values as part of SMSC in school.
Pupils will be encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures.It is expected that pupils should understand tolerance, differences, 'right' and 'wrong' choices and the implications for this where the law of England is concerned. Our school will make parents aware of the need to support the rule of English civil and criminal law.

Through our provision of Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Education (SMSC) The Roebuck School will provide opportunities for:

*Enabling pupils to develop their self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence;

*Enabling pupilsto distinguish between right and wrong and to respect the civil and criminal law of England;

*Encouraging pupils to accept responsibility for their behaviour, show initiative and understanding how they can contribute positively to the lives of those living and working in the locality of the school and to society more widely;

*Enabling pupils to acquire a broad general knowledge of and respect for public institutions and services in England;

*A tolerance and harmony between different cultural traditions by enabling pupils to acquire an appreciation of and respect for their own and other cultures;

*Encouraging respect for other people; and

*Encouraging respect for democracy and support for participation in the democratic processes, including respect for the basis on which the law is made and applied in England.
