Autumn 1
In the first Autumn term we will be listening to and discussing stories by Julia Donaldson- Room on the Broom, What the Ladybird Heard Next and The Highway Rat. We will be identifying the main characters and events and making simple predictions. We will show an understanding of these texts by answering questions related to who, what, where, when, how and why.
This term we will support children to become independent writers by encouraging them to think of and say their own sentences related to the text. We will explore the structure of a good sentence such as leaving spaces between words and placing full stops at the end of sentences.
Please see attached Year One common exception words which children are expected to be able to read and write by the end of the year.
