Autumn 2 Week 6
Another week is done in school and the children are getting very excited about Christmas. We have had a lovely week posting our Santa letters in the postbox on Eldon Street. The children were very sensible when crossing the roads.
In maths we have been looking at shapes with 3, 4 and 5 sides. We found out that a 5 sided shape is a pentagon. The children have been hunting around the classroom and outside looking for the shapes in their environment.
We have been working hard on our writing and reading. Please keep practising writing your name at home and writing simple cvc words.
Tonight we have sent home some words or captions for your child to read. They should be able to read all the words as we have learnt all the sounds in phase 2. Please keep working on these over the Christmas holidays. This is so important so the children don’t forget their letter sounds.
We have been thinking about other people at Christmas time and have written a Christmas card to the residents and staff at Banksfield Nursing Home.
This morning we watched a live performance of The Gruffalo. The children loved watching it and it was fantastic to watch live theatre even though it was on zoom.
We hope you have a lovely weekend. Don’t forget it is party day on Wednesday and the children can come in their Christmas jumper instead of their school jumper on that day.
