This week's newsletter:
If your child is going to be absent from school, you need to contact school as soon as possible and let us know the reason why. If we don't hear from you, we will contact you to find out why. This is our normal procedure. From next week, we will be putting further measures in place if you are not reachable by phone and we have not received a message. For safeguarding reasons and to ensure your child is safe, we will be contacting the people you have identified as named contacts on your emergency list. If we cannot contact any of them, we may refer to the police to conduct a welfare check.
Data Collection and Consent Forms
Thank you to everybody who has already returned their Data Collection and Consent forms. We have received a substantial number of them now. However, there are still a few children who have not returned their forms. It is extremely important that these forms are completed and returned as soon as possible, so we have up-to-date contact and medical details.
If your child is in Year 6, please remember to apply for their high school place for next year. You will need to visit https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/schools/apply-for-a-school-place/. The application process is now open, and will close on 31st October 2021. When completing the form, their present school is found under ‘Ashton, The Roebuck’.
Key Stage 1 Cake Sale
Following on from the success of our sponsored event, Key Stage 1 will be holding a cake sale to raise money for the Key Stage 1 outdoor area. We would be grateful if they could bring in biscuits/cakes to sell on Tuesday 19th October. We will be selling the cakes at 20p each or £1 for 5.
After Half Term, we will be returning to a normal menu for school meals. If you would like to see a copy of the menu, they are available outside the office.
A quick reminder to the parents and carers of the children in Year 5/6 who have returned their reply slips for the school football team trial, that the trial is being held next Tuesday (19th October) at the sports hall. Please make sure children have appropriate clothing and footwear for the trial. Those children who will be collected need to be picked up promptly at 4.15pm.
Just to give you advanced warning that Tempest Photography will be in school on Wednesday 20th October to take individual and sibling photographs.
Unfortunately, we are not able to continue with the virtual reality session booked last year. If you have paid for this, we have sent the refund home today – please look out for the brown envelope in your child’s bag.
Lancashire Science Festival
The Lancashire Science Festival will be held on Saturday 23rd October at UCLAN. Tickets are free, but need to be applied for through the website. If anybody is interested in this exciting event, please visit the website https://lancashiresciencefestival.co.uk.
A reminder that we finish school on Thursday 21st October at 3:10pm for the Half Term holiday, and return on Monday 1st November.
